The arch of the foot is crucial for shock absorption during weight-bearing activities such as standing, walking, running or jumping. Cavus foot can be caused by neurological disorder, but it is usually a inherited structural deformity. The foot arch goes from the ball of the foot to the heel. High arched feet, in medical terminology referred as pes cavus, is a condition characterized by an unusually high arch. If most of the wear of your shoes is on the outside of soles, you probably have a high arched, underpronated foot type. The other way of identifying your foot type is by looking at the bottom of your shoes. If your footprint shows just the heel and the ball of your foot, you probably have a high-arched foot.
